Privacy Policy

HotHop Inc. (“HotHop”) provides this Privacy Policy to inform you of our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information we receive from our users. This Privacy Policy covers HotHop’s treatment of personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) and other data that HotHop gathers when you are using Hot Hop’s mobile software or associated web sites (“Properties”).

What Information Does HotHop Collect?

We receive and store any information that you enter on our Properties or provide to us in any way. We may collect information including, but not limited to, the following: Your name, email address, phone number, location, age, gender, Twitter and Facebook account identity, what device you are connecting with and its operating system, IP address as well as what method you use to connect (ie. cellular or Wi-Fi). We will also collect any usage metrics (including when, how long, and how you use their constituent features), photos, comments, messages, ratings or other information provided by you while using the Properties as well as the identity of your friends and followers.

In order to determine your location we may use various technologies provided by your device’s operating system and/or browser or other sensor data from your device that may, for example, utilize information from nearby Wi-Fi access points and cell towers to obtain your longitude and latitude. This is used to determine and record your visits to specific places. In order to provide the best user experience to you this location information may be collected whether or not you are actively using the Properties.

The Personal Information you provide is used to allow you to set up a user account and profile used to interact with other users through the Properties, improve the content of the Properties, to ensure the security, stability and performance of the Properties, to notify friends and followers when you are at a specific location, to customize the content you and your friends see (including Hot Hop or third-party advertising) and to communicate with you about specials or new features.

How is My Information Shared?

Friends and Followers:
• Your friends and followers will be able see: Your location, name, profile photo, venues that you have rated, photos that you have uploaded, links to your Twitter and Facebook accounts (if you have connected them to the Properties), a list of your friends and any private messages you have written to them and any other information that you expressly share with your friends and followers.

Publicly Available Information:
• Anyone accessing the Properties will be able to see: Your name, profile information, venue ratings as well as photos or comments you post about a venue. Accordingly, we encourage members to think carefully about what information they disclose publicly.

Aggregate Information:
• Hot Hop may provide aggregate information, that includes information about your use of its Properties, to anyone. This information is not personally-identifying and cannot be traced back to any specific user.

Possible Further Disclosure

Anyone who views your information (ie. friends, followers or other users of the Properties) may disclose it to other individuals or entities without your knowledge or consent. Hot Hop cannot prevent such sharing. As such, we urge you to think carefully before sharing any specific information you might deem private.

Service Providers, Business Transfers and the Protection of Hot Hop and Others

Service Providers: In order to deliver this service to you Hot Hop may share Personal Information with multiple third-party service providers. We will make a good faith effort in protecting the security of your Personal Information and only use those service providers whom we believe will ensure the security and privacy of our users.

Business Transfers: If HotHop, substantially all of HotHop’s assets, a Property or line of business are acquired by a third party, or if HotHop goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information will be transferred to that third party.

Protection of HotHop and Others: We may release Personal Information if we believe in good faith that the release is necessary to comply with legal process and law enforcement instructions and orders, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on us; (b) helpful to prevent, investigate, or identify possible wrongdoing in connection with the Site; or (c) protect our rights, reputation, property, or that of our users, affiliates or the public.


Your Personal Information is protected by a password for your privacy and security. You need to prevent unauthorized access to your account and Personal Information by selecting and protecting your password appropriately.

HotHop is very concerned with safeguarding your information; however, we cannot guarantee the security of user account information. Unauthorized entry or use, interception of unencrypted communications, hardware failure, software failure and other factors may compromise the security of user information at any time.

Additionally, while HotHop requires that the third parties used to provide service secure and maintain the confidentiality of Personal Information, it does not control those services itself.

Other Sites and Services

HotHop may contain links to other sites. HotHop is not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices on other sites. When visiting another site, you should carefully review its privacy policy. This Privacy Policy only governs information collected on HotHop’s Properties.

Changes Made to the Privacy Policy

This policy is effective as of March 1st, 2015.

HotHop may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is connected. If we make material changes in the way we use Personal Information, we will notify you by posting an announcement or by sending you an email. Users are bound by any changes to the Privacy Policy when they use the Properties after such changes have been first posted.
